1. Introduction- This research is all about the Identification of gaps in Gem and

Jewellery skill training imparted by institutional training programme, so that topic itself covers

from Institute to Industry. This topic states about the identification of gaps in gem and jewellery

sector between institutional training and skill training.

As we all know jewellery business is more family oriented business so apart from

institutional training there is skill training exist. Skill training is a training in which trainee adopt

skill from skilled person (the person who is engaged in this field for long). So, we have to find

the difference between skill training and institutional training. Skill training is a training in which

teaching an individual how to perform the operations of a particular occupation; distinguished

from personal adjustment training, work adjustment, and the acquisition of basic employment

skills. Institutional training is training in which in addition to examinations, there is usually a

requirement for a long period of institutionalized training where aspiring professionals acquire

specified practical experience in some sort of trainee role before being recognized as a full

member of a professional body.

In that topic we have to cover Gem and Jewellery industry including their operations as

well as , demands of the industry and expectation from students. So we have to interact with

major Industry Players, Department heads along with employees working for these industries.

I believe that apart from organized industry we also look for unorganized industry,

about their skill training and skill practice. Unorganized industry tells us how they adopt skill

leaning, how they train people.

The research will have wider scope and will cover respondents from the position of

C.E.O. to a common employee, this research also benefits all those who participated in different

ways, like a student who just pass out from an institute Students will prepare themselves that

they have that needed knowledge and in an particular industry, Students had to work and hone

their skills which were imparted by a formal training at the institutional level.

Scope of this research is as follows:

• In this topic we propose to collect the information about importance of institutional

training and whether the students are willing to implement these institutional based

skill trainings in industry.

• We also have to focus on comparative study of different institutes.

• Another important issue is What was taught by the institute to students?

• Whether teaching methods adopted by teachers, are found useful by the students?

• So we have to also interact with Institutes and their teachers to know about their

academic sessions. We should know about their teaching methodology.

• Whether institute‘s knowledge, skill given by them is useful to us for working in

industry.

• So we have to interact with ex-students of various colleges about skill that they adopt in

their institutes, whether them useful or not.

As we know this research covers a very large audience i.e. from Institute to Industry so

we have to pay attention on each and every step.

Based upon past research and literature review there are several Skill gaps existing. For

the purpose of this study some major gaps selected to be studied are as follows:

• Lack of practical education in colleges that is why student are not able recognize few

things.

• One man can do only one job i.e. that person have skill to perform a task only.

• Family oriented skill training usually imparts constraint training as singular methods

are being employed in the family business and the same is passed on from generation

to generation. This process does not facilitate development of skills as upcoming

generation will be unaware of modern practices and better alternative production

techniques.

This research will generate solutions to bridge skill gap.

2. Justifications- This research is important in many ways

i. It helps in identification of skill gaps between institutional training

and skill training.

ii. It helps students to know the difference between their skill and

industries demands.

iii. It helps in bridge skill gaps.

3. Background and Aims- The aims of this research are

i. Understanding the institutional training.

ii. To collect the information about how industry works,

expectations of industry and gap that industry assume.

iii. To know about practice of skill training.

iv. Tried to find the skill gap between institutional training and skill

training.

v. Importance of skill training in Gem & Jewellery industry.

vi. To give solution to bridge the gap using suitable methods.

vii. Student’s feedback who are engaged in industry about their

institute and industry.

viii.Comparative studies of skill programs run by various institutes.

ix. Why skill training is useful?

4. Methods- We can use various methods like

i. Collection of secondary data (data available) using internet, books

and magazine etc.

ii. Collection of primary data (data that generate with interaction

from people). To be collected with the help of two separate

questionnaires to be filled by industry players, department heads,

workers, students and institutes.

iii. Using questionnaire.

iv. Unstructured interview.

v. Interviews.

5. Expected results- The results that I expect from this research

i. Institute got to know about the changes that they have to bring in

their curriculum.

ii. Students will select the proper institute for their skill training.

iii. Industry became aware about the skill training they are practicing.

6. Collaboration- Need collaboration of many like

i. Industry players

• Vaibhav Global Limited

• Sambhav Gems

• Valentine Jewellery

• KGK

• Gem Plaza

• Savio

• Derewalas World Jewellery

• Nigam Jewellers

ii. Department’s heads of these industries

• P.D. Institute Jaipur

• Arch Institute Jaipur

v. Access Development Services for interaction with unorganized

industry.

vi. G.J.E.P.C. (Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council)

7. Resources- We can use various resources like

Sample size, industry size, players to

be visited, and personalities to be

interviewed

• Sample size of the ex-students of various institutions students 50.

• Sample size of industry 8 players as mentioned above.

8. Time schedule- Time schedule for this research is as

1.)                INTRODUCTION
The program offered under this domain are specialized to the gem cutting industry’s specific needs.
For example how can the value of rough stone be enhanced by means of cutting where basic principles of cut, colour, clarity, caratage are enhanced to bring about the best in any stone as per global standard.
The term gem cutting is used to describe the process of shaping and polishing faceted stones.
The artisan undertaking the cutting can also be called lapidary.
This project is about increasing the number of gemstone cutting training programs in Jaipur. This program is facilitate in the creation of large skill work force.
Focus area of the study is to find how we can make gem cutting process very popular as well as useful of for the industry.
The key area of research is to find ways and means to increase enrolment in gem cutting program, so large skilled work force could be offered to the industry.
But outside the industry like student and other people are not aware about this process.
Student enrolment in the gem cutting process is low. We are trying to the find the reasons behind low number of enrolment in this course.
The primary issues we are trying to address by this research is to, ‘‘to increase the number of gem cutting program as well as to increase number of enrolment in the program.
Students and outsiders of this process who is not related to the jewellery and gems field, they are not aware about the gem cutting process so we try to make them aware about these process and to find out various reasons due to which students are not interested in gem cutting training program. The research also tries to find out what expectation, students have from any training program that they would like to attend the same application for gem cutting training program.
In this research we trying to find out problem with in the industry as well as issues with the student conserving gem cutting curriculum and the career prospectus being offered by skill development course.
After that we want to increase the number of enrollment in the gem cutting training program.
